Independent country music in 2019 grew and shined more than ever with Cody Johnson taking his step into the national spotlight signing a groundbreaking record deal with Warner Music Nashville after many previous years being independent. Tyler Childers also had a breakout year with his album "Country Squire" (promoted by RCA records) and made numerous appearances on late-night television as well as his Opry debut. Big stuff for a kid from a small town in Kentucky. So many artists put out great music yet often it is still a struggle to be heard. Thank you 2019 for allowing the underdogs to win a bit.

In this article, we are going to round out the year's top independent albums (and EP's) picked by the Country Underdog Staff in no particular order. Albums that were released without help from a Nashville label (Sorry CoJo, and TC ).
